Westborough PD Remind Of Underage Drinking After Southboro Charge
Prom and graduation season is right around the corner and Westborough police are reminding parents of the state's "social host" law.
WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough police are reminding parents to keep alcohol out of their teens hands this prom and graduation season. The warning comes in the wake of the summons of a Southborough parent who was charged with furnishing alcohol to people under 21.
Southborough police said they were called to a home on Lynbrook Road on Thursday at 1:23 a.m. for a report of someone who was sick and intoxicated. Police said they found ten underage teens in the home for an "end of the school year" party and signs of alcohol and alcohol use. One person was taken to Marlborough hospital for evaluation, according to Southborough police.
Five of the teens were from Southborough and Northborough and were released to their parents or guardians. The homeowner and parent, Manpreet Khurana, will be summonsed in Westborough District Court, according to police.

Westborough police reminded parents that knowingly or intentionally supplying minors with alcohol is illegal and can result in fines of up to $2,000 or imprisonment, or both. The state's Social Host law applies to parents homes, properties they own and hotel rooms they rent for underage teens.
