Westborough Pet Urgent Care To Permanently Close

A veterinary urgent care clinic in Westborough will permanently close next week after four years of serving pets and families.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A veterinary urgent care clinic in Westborough will permanently close next week after four years serving pets and families in the MetroWest area.

Pet Medic in Westborough will close as of Monday, June 22, according to Dr. Katie Sakakeeny, the clinic’s medical director. The urgent care clinic is located off I-495 near Westborough Shopping Center and next to Chipotle.

“Over the past four years, my team and I have had the privilege of serving pets and their families in the MetroWest community,” Sakakeeny said in a message Thursday announcing the closure.

Pet Medic operates two other locations in Massachusetts, in Burlington and Peabody. Dr. Sakakeeny said the closure was difficult news for the clinic’s staff to share.

“This was not an announcement we wanted to make,” she said. “My team and I are deeply saddened to have to give you this news. It is incredibly difficult for us to say goodbye.”

Dr. Sakakeeny also thanked local pet owners and referring veterinarians who worked with the clinic over the past four years.

“We are so grateful to the pet owners who have entrusted us with the care of their beloved companions and to the referring veterinarians that have partnered with us throughout these years,” she said. “Your support and kindness to us has meant more than we will ever be able to express.”

The announcement comes with little advance notice, Dr. Sakakeeny said, adding that she hoped the message would reach as many people as possible before the closure.
