WESTBOROUGH, MA — A Westborough police officer will represent Massachusetts on the Miss America stage after winning a statewide pageant title.

Ashlyn Mercier, a Westborough police officer, was crowned Miss Massachusetts 2026 on June 20 at The Hanover Theatre in Worcester. The Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Foundation lists Mercier as the 2026 titleholder and says the state competition is a preliminary to Miss America.

“I am overwhelmed with gratitude and extremely humbled and honored to say that I am your Miss Massachusetts 2026,” Mercier wrote in a post with the Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Foundation after winning the crown. “This dream has lived in my heart for the past six years, and I just cannot believe it has come to fruition.”

The initiative is named for Mercier’s younger brother, Nick, a two-time pediatric cancer survivor, according to WHDH.

“To represent my home state of Massachusetts on the Miss America stage is truly a dream come true,” Mercier wrote.

Mercier will represent Massachusetts at the next Miss America competition in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Miss America Organization says the competition will run from Aug. 28 to Sept. 6, with the final competition set for Sept. 6.

The Oxford Police Department said that Mercier is an Oxford native and the daughter of Oxford Police Cpl. Kevin Mercier in a social media post Sunday. The department said Mercier is the first police officer to hold the Miss Massachusetts crown.
