Youth Commission Seeks Youth Members

The Westborough Youth Commission is seeking two high school students who will be juniors during the 2016-2017 school year to serve as Youth Members of the Youth Commission. They will serve for two school years, September through June. Youth Members of the Youth Commission attend monthly meetings, usually held on the second Monday of each month at 7:30 pm to provide a youth perspective on programs and policies being developed by the Youth Commission and Westborough Youth and Family Services. This is a terrific community

service opportunity to take a leadership role in the development of youth related programming for Westborough Youth and to learn about the operation of town government. Ideal candidates would have an interest in community service, advocacy, political action and/or government. A time commitment of about 2 hours a month is expected, as well as attendance at town meeting. It is important that youth make a commitment to attend all Youth Commission meetings.

The Youth Commission is a nine member volunteer board, composed of five adults and four high school age students, appointed by the Board of Selectmen to advocate for the needs of the youths and families of Westborough. It meets monthly, September through June, with the Director of Westborough Youth and Family Services to guide the direction of the department.
