The adult urban fantasy novel will be released as an ebook on Friday, April 27.

Local writer and teacher, Lauren Grimley, is releasing her debut novel Unforeseen as an e-book. The novel, available on Friday, April 27, is the first in a planned series of adult urban fantasy books.

The story, set in the fictional city of Bristol, Massachusetts, includes a strong heroine, plenty of action, a healthy dose of romance, and, of course, some vampires.

Unforeseen fits the category of vampire books that have become popular in recent years, but she said it offers some unique differences.

"Most of the urban fantasy books I read had either male heroes or had female characters hyper-focused on their romantic lives,” she said. "I wanted a heroine who had her priorities straight, one who could kick some butt first and get the guy second."
