Woman Involved in Lizzi Marriott's Murder to Get Out of Prison This Month

Witness, ex-girlfriend of convicted murderer, to be released from prison after serving time for her role in the incident.

WESTBOROUGH, MA—The primary witness, and ex-girlfriend of the convicted murderer of Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott will be released from prison on July 16 after serving the maximum three-year sentence for her part in the incident.

Kathryn "Kat" McDonough, 22, formerly from Dover, NH, was convicted of hindering apprehension in the 2012 killing for luring the teen to the apartment of Seth Mazzaglia. He was convicted of strangling and raping Marriott, a 19-year-old Westborough native and University of New Hampshire student.

McDonough was offered the sentence in exchange for her testimony, reports WMUR. Mazzaglia is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

McDonough worked with Marriott at a Target in Greenland, NH, and according to testimony, lured Marriott with an invite for a movie. In reality, Mazzaglia had ordered her to bring a friend to take part in sadomasochistic acts.

Mazzaglia maintains that Marriott accidentally suffocated during consensual sex, and that he helped McDonough dispose of the body in the Piscatuqua River in Portsmouth, NH.

Marriott's body was never found.
