Join us to view the film inspired by Szifra Birke, daughter of Sally & Nathan Birke, owners of Birke’s Department Store, a Lowell clothing store in business from 1948 to 2004. Their story of survival, perseverance, and success comes to life in this witty and poignant documentary. Szifra will provide an introduction and be available to answer questions, providing details and insight about her parents who were Holocaust survivors from Poland, and the impact of the store on the local community. Szifra will share recollections of her cantankerous and opinionated father who was like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld, only about clothing, and her sweet and friendly mother, who served cookies to customers.
