WESTFORD, MA — A Westford man who once worked at the Massachusetts facility responsible for a nationwide fungal meningitis outbreak that killed 76 people and sickened hundreds was acquitted of all charges Thursday. Joseph Evanosky, 46, was a clean room pharmacist at the now-closed New England Compounding Center.
Four former employees and part owner Gregory Conigliaro were convicted of charges including mail fraud and conspiracy to defraud the U.S. in the latest case stemming from the 2012 outbreak caused by tainted steroid injections, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
