Westford Train Derailment Reportedly Under Control
No evacuation is expected after a tanker of corrosive material was reportedly among the train cars going off-track.

A freight train derailed in Westford and several trqin cars - reportedly including a tanker of corrosive material - were off the track, police confirmed Tuesday night.
Police told Patch no evacuation of the nearby area has been ordered, but that a call would be sent out to residents in case an evacuation is put in place.

The Lowell Sun reported that Westford Fire said a tanker of corrosive material was among the derailed cars, but the situation is secure.
WCVB reported one of the cars off the track has hazmat placards.

Town Manager Jodi Ross said evacuation would likely be more for fire threat because flammable substances may have been aboard train.
