6th Annual Civics Bee

CIVICS BEE
SUNDAY, MARCH 30



Teams
from Sudbury, Wayland and Weston will vie for the League of Women Voters trophy
in the sixth annual Civics Bee.


The
Civics Bee will be Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m., at Curtis Middle School, 22

Pratts Mill Rd. in Sudbury.  It is
free, and the public is encouraged to come and cheer for their town.                         

Teams
composed of middle school students, high school students and adults from each
town will demonstrate their knowledge in the competition, sponsored by the
Leagues in the three towns.

The Bee’s theme this gubernatorial election year
will be state government, but topics will include the histories of the three
towns, all of which have recent major anniversaries of their founding.  The main focus of the Civics Bee

remains to challenge the teams’ overall knowledge of federal, state and local

government.

The
Bee Master, or moderator, will be Jo-Ann Berry of the

Acton Area League. Richard
Albert, assistant professor at Boston College Law School, a specialist in
constitutional law, democratic theory and comparative constitutional law, will
again be the judge.

The
League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization which encourages
informed and active participation in government and works to increase
