The Youth in Philanthropy program (YIP) helps high school students develop the knowledge and skills to become community leaders and educated philanthropists. They form their own Board of Trustees and have the opportunity to run for leadership positions, fundraise for the program, visit local organizations, and distribute grants to local nonprofits of their choice.

A recent YIP participant said, “This program was an amazing way to make a large impact on several areas of the MetroWest community; an opportunity high school students are not often presented with. YIP really helped in developing my understanding and appreciation for nonprofits, and has pushed me to constantly look for ways to become more involved in the community.”

Since it began more than 15 years ago, the Foundation for MetroWest Youth in Philanthropy program has graduated over 900 students and awarded nearly $700,000 in grants to organizations that serve youth throughout MetroWest. The Foundation for MetroWest is proud to be running one of the largest youth philanthropy programs in the country.
