Black Bears Spotted In Weston: Safety Tips
Weston police say there have been several black bear sightings around town in the past week.

WESTON, MA – Several black bear sightings have been reported around Weston, the police department said. According to a release, there was a reported sighting on Wildflower Lane last week, and Sunday night there were confirmed sightings on Beaver Road and Winter Street.
Officers encountered the bear in the area, but it ran off when they arrived, according to police.

- Remove bird feeders
- Secure trash
- Remove other attractants
- If you see a bear in the area of your home, step outside and yell and make lots of noise. The bear will usually leave with its young.
- If you see a bear in the woods, make the animal aware of your presence by clapping, talking or making other sounds while slowly backing away
- Do not approach bears or intrude between a female bear and her cubs. Keep dogs leashed and stay a safe distance away.
