Creating Positive Energy in Your Home
Tips on creating positive energy in your home, for living and/or selling.
I am thrilled to be featuring another Q & A with Weston resident and my great friend and colleague, Laura Urell. This time it's about creating positive energy in your home, which is so important to keep in mind when living in—and also when planning to sell—your home. As you may remember, Laura is a psychic healer and scientist researching in her Watertown practice. She is also a Certified Energy Medicine Practitioner and has a master's of science in bioethics, a Certificate of Reiki Master, a year-long training in the Diamond Heart Approach and extensive experience in the esoteric sciences as well as psychology.
Why is the energy in a home so important?
The healthy state of all the energy in our homes is as important as the healthy nutritive state of the soil used to grow our foods. It is the foundation of our families’ emotional, intellectual, spiritual and physical well-being.

What type of energy in our houses do we need to be aware of?
That’s a great question. There are so many levels of energy. he best place to start is to understand that energy is a term I am using here to describe all the different levels of vibrations that effect us consciously or unconsciously.

- Physical energy (matter) is one category of energy vibration. The red leather couch actually has a very different vibrational composition than the yellow fabric couch, and the difference affects our energy field. The red couch offers a solid rooted sense to a person and allows them additional grounding in their body. The yellow couch will offer a more expanded and unlimited sense of being allowing for more self-expression and expanded thought.
- Emotional energy is another type of energetic vibration. There is emotional dust that is unseen by the eye, but exists in every home. Clearing your house once a month with sage will absorb the extra emotional vibrations, allowing for everyone to have more space to express themselves safely.
- Psychic energy is another form of energy vibration that exists in a home. There is an energy grid on the earth and an energy grid in the air which runs through each of our houses. Depending on the location and “openness” of the house or the people who live there, there may be unhealthy psychic vibrations running through the house. This grid mapping of a home and its energy fields can be done by a number of intuitive professionals in the Boston area.
- Electromagnetic radiation vibrations are a huge hazard in our houses these days. They are extremely unhealthy. Do not have a cell phone or computer in your bedroom. The electromagnetic field from these devices cause ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. What does that mean? In short, these devices emit frequency that will cause the breakdown of the natural chemical bonds in our bodies. Breakdown of chemical bonds in our metabolic pathways is the basis of ANY disease. There are a couple EMF (electro-magnetic field) shields on the market—one by a company called QLink, another by Energetic Interactions and another by Safe-Connect. These shields can be placed on the devices (phones, computers, iPads), and they offer a stabilizing ionization platform for the EMFs so they aren’t looking for one in our bodies.
What are the best ways to bring positive energy into a house?
1. An open and inviting front door allows positive energy to flow into your home, whereas energy can stagnate if the entryway is closed off. Place a red-flowering plant outside or put some red accent colors on or around your front door. Red attracts energy, fortune, and luck.
2. Clutter literally sucks up the energy in a space. You may think you're hiding your clutter, but the closet has as much of an effect on energy flow as anything else. If there's clutter somewhere in your home — even tucked away in an attic — then it's also cluttering your head, as well as the rest of your body.
3. Make sure you have something representing the five elements — water, wood, fire, earth and metal — in every room. The goal is to stay grounded, centered, and balanced in your life and your environment. Try to incorporate colors that symbolize the five elements: black = water, green = wood, red = fire, yellow, tan and brown = earth and white = metal.
4. Nature creates a sense of peace. In fact, research shows that viewing nature reduces anger and anxiety and enhances feelings of pleasure. So flood your home with natural light, open windows and doors to let fresh air inside, and bring plants indoors. Decorate with bamboo, wood, or wicker, and use stones and rocks to add texture. You can also adorn the walls with paintings of nature and its serenity.
5. Mirrors reflect energy, so position them in places where you want to increase energy flow. Also, make sure that mirrors reflect something beautiful. You don't want mirrors to reflect anything low energy or negative, like toilets or garbage pails.
Laura can sense a home’s energy as soon as she walks into it. In her words, “Usually my body does a quick mapping of the state of emotions in the house. I tend to walk in and sense in my body whatever emotion is in excess. Sometimes it is a matter of a recent event where I may still feel the leftover vibrations, or it can be from an accumulation of one or two people in the house holding a certain vibration for an extended period of time. I actually feel this before I even see the physical energy like the furniture, etc. It is just how my body and brain work.” If you would like Laura to help create positive energy in your home, please click here to contact her.
Thanks so much, Laura, for all of your wise words and thoughts about creating positive energy in your home. I especially related to Laura's insights about clutter and nature in the home. How about you? What are your thoughts on your home's positive—or not so positive—energy? I can’t wait to hear.
