Inside, you'll see hundreds of original family artifacts and learn about the tavern's unique role in the Revolutionary War—complete with visits from British spies, Paul Revere’s men, and a Weston Tea Party. Free and family friendly! Come along and learn more about colonial life. You will see what it was like to live in the 18th and 19th century firsthand!

Join us and learn about six generations of the Jones family living in this house for 200 years and the unique role that the tavern and Isaac Jones played during the Revolutionary War - including the visits from British Spies, Paul Revere’s men and a Weston Tea Party. See up close what it was like to live in the Colonial era - our museum is filled with hundreds of artifacts that belonged to the Jones family.

History is written by the victors—but what of the ill-fated, whose future was sealed by forces beyond their control? The Golden Ball Tavern Museum is committed to illuminating the “broken promises” of the American Revolution, with a focus on Weston history.
The exhibit is funded by a grant received from Mass Humanities program for <a href="https://masshumanities.org/mh-awards-600k-for-250th-stories/?utm_campaign=2a6dbb18d6-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_01_31_07_42_COPY_01&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Mass%20Humanities%20Email&amp;utm_term=0_36e0b33628-2a6dbb18d6-475790004" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">"Expand Massachusetts Stories - Promises of the Revolution”. </a>which has a special focus on the 250th. Mass Humanities grants are made possible by funding from the Mass Cultural Council.

Join us at the Golden Ball on Tuesday, August 18th from 9 a.m. to noon for a colorful hands-on colonial crafting session. Kids will create and take home their own projects, including stenciling, weaving, beeswax sculpting, needlepoint, and cross-stitch. Learn about the history of each activity and see the museum's antique waxwork, floor stenciling and needlepoint chairs up close!
Details:
Ages 6 - 10 Parents of younger children are encouraged to stay.
Kids can take home a completed stitching or weaving project, a personal beeswax creation and a stenciled picture frame or wall hanging.
Water and light snacks will be provided.

Best known as a local Boston Classic Rock Cover Band, Crossroad Band and their sound have developed and grown in popularity since 2019. There are five members - Bob, Rich, Steve, Amy and Jim. Home of Loyalist Isaac Jones and 6 generations of his family

Step inside history at the Golden Ball Tavern Museum—a remarkable home built in 1768 where the drama of the American Revolution once unfolded. Built by Isaac Jones, a prominent citizen who famously shifted from Loyalist to Patriot, the Tavern became an unlikely hub of intrigue. In 1774 it was the scene of a violent ransacking known as the ‘Weston Tea Party’. During the winter of 1775, it served as a base for British spies, playing a role in the events that led to the march on Lexington and Concord. These walls have witnessed divided loyalties, secret plans, and a nation on the brink of independence. The tavern, found at “the sign of the Golden Ball,” welcomed travelers from 1770 to 1793. For the 200 years, six generations of the Jones family carefully preserved the home and its stories—creating a rare, unbroken link to the past. Today, the Golden Ball Tavern Museum invites visitors to experience early American life up close. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum houses hundreds of original artifacts and offers engaging programs, lectures, and events that bring history vividly to life for all ages. Open year-round from February through December, the museum welcomes visitors every Thursday (10 a.m.–4 p.m.) and on the second Sunday of each month (1–4 p.m.). The museum has a special, week-long holiday event in December which is open to the public each day. Whether you're a history enthusiast or just curious about the past, there’s something here for everyone. Our largest fundraiser of the year - the Golden Ball Tavern Museum's Barn Sale - will celebrate its 59th year on September 26th, 2026.
