'Cats Make Double Trouble for Mount St. Joseph, Qualify for State Tournament
Vasquez, Ober named Dual County League All-Stars.

On the final day of its regular season the Weston High softball team qualified for the state tournament with a convincing 13-5 win over host Mount St. Joseph Academy yesterday.
The hit barrage was on for the Wildcats, who knocked out 21 hits, including six doubles, building an 11-1 lead after four innings. Weston added two more runs in the sixth, before the Green Wave got three back in their half. But Mount St. Joseph could only get one more across in the seventh.
Weston was dominant throughout its lineup. Junior Tanner Skenderian had a huge day for the ‘Cats, going 3 for 4 with a walk, a double, and a whopping five RBIs. Sophomore Sarah Goldman had five hits in six tries with two doubles and a run batted in, while freshman Talia Cramer and sophomore Ariana Vasquez both went 3 for 5 with two RBIs. Vasquez ripped two doubles and Cramer delivered another.

Also contributing were Kristen Welby, who went 2 for 4 with a triple, and sophomore Dani Silverstein and senior Sarah Ober, who both went 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Vasquez went the distance in the circle, allowing just six hits, while striking out six and walking three.

Both Vasquez and Ober were recently named to the Dual County League All-Star team.
