Do you know of a high school student who likes to give back to their community? Applications are now available for the Foundation for MetroWest Youth in Philanthropy program.

The Youth in Philanthropy program - also known as YIP - helps high school students develop the knowledge and skills to become community leaders. Throughout the program, participants gain the knowledge and skills young adults need to become informed and educated philanthropists. Students learn the importance of the nonprofit sector and giving back to their own community. They form their own Board of Trustees and have the opportunity to run for leadership positions, fundraise for the program, visit local organizations, and distribute grants to the nonprofits of their choice.

A recent YIP participant said, “Previous to hearing about the program, I had not been aware of any opportunities for high school students to have such an in-depth experience with nonprofits. It was also a chance to make a large impact on several areas of the MetroWest community at once; an opportunity high school students are not often presented with. YIP really helped in developing my understanding and appreciation for nonprofits, and has pushed me to constantly look for ways to become more involved in the community.”
