Early Morning Visitors

A rafter of wild turkeys visits Weston.

If you live in Weston, you are accustomed to seeing these birds walking along the road in your neighbor's or your own back yard. Last spring, I remember watching this newborn family following their mother (hen) and father (gobbler) through our property. They came to eat the droppings from our various bird feeders.

One year later, the entire family is still around. Thursday, we removed a 100-year-old ash tree and asked that some of the wood be left behind for firewood. Friday, our friendly neighborhood creatures found a new resting place. With their favorite tree now gone, where will they spend their nights?
