Electric Car Test Drive in Weston Today

Weston will host a Mass Drive Clean test drive event Monday, the next step in a campaign introducing residents to electric vehicles.

Weston will be host to a Mass Drive Clean test drive event Monday afternoon, the next step in a campaign introducing Massachusetts residents to electric vehicles.

Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Matthew Beaton, the top energy official in the state, will take part in one of the test drives. The event takes place at Biogen at 133 Boston Post Road. The modles available for test driven include BMW, Ford, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, and Volvo.

The state wants to have 300,000 electric vehicles registered by 2025, but the current uptick in such vehicles is a slow one.

"Test drives can present a range of available ZEVs in one place, providing consumers a variety of ways to experience the cars that would be virtually impossible to otherwise replicate," according to Mass Drive Clean.

"Events are oriented to providing important information, rather than subjecting participants to high pressure sales pitches, As a result, the campaign structure helps consumers feel more comfortable in learning about the vehicles, ask a range of questions, and prepares them to successfully navigate a later sales/lease transaction on a dealer sales floor."
