Elements of Comedy Workshop for Teens

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED

This workshop is geared toward young actors who want to develop their individual repertoire of skills and who recognize that comedy is often seen as more difficult than dramatic acting. With a focus on different styles of comedy performance, students will learn and develop their comedic acting skills through progressive comedy techniques while working with a range of comedy scripts across various formats (comedy drama, satire, live theatre, filmed, etc.). Students will also learn how to analyze and break down scripts to find classic joke set-ups and identify the rhythm, timing and pace to maximize performance, as well as learn how to develop comedic characters. Finally, students will gain practical experience for auditions and production performance through the rehearsal and preparation of filmed scenes to study in a group format.

Tuesdays:  2:00 - 3:30 (Jul 10, 17, 24, 31, Aug 7, 14)
