Five Questions For Weston Girls Soccer Player Maddie Linde

Patch recently had a chance to talk to Wildcats Maddie Linde.

Patch: How has your season been going?

Linde: It’s actually been a really good season. I now have 12 goals and 13 assists. And I’m in the top 20 of the Boston Globe for leaders. So for me personally, it’s been successful. And I think as a team, we’ve been extremely successful as well.  We’ve beat teams like Westford, who have been in the top 20 of the Globe just for teams. As a whole, we’re really coming together.

Patch: I imagine when you start a season, you set goals for yourself. Have you reached any of those yet?

Linde: As a team, my goal is to win the state [championship]. Obviously, the tournament is coming around, so I really want to do that. But personally, just try to score and assist, get as many points as I possibly can is my goal. Not really a set number, but as many as I can per game.

Patch: Being only a junior, you’re one of the more dominant players out there. What does the future hold for you do you think?

Linde: I really hope to play college soccer. That’s kind of my goal. Division 1 would be nice, but Division 3 as well. I’m really looking to do that after high school. And keep it up with the goals and assists next year.

Patch: What do you do for conditioning?

Linde: We do stuff in practice, but I also have a personal trainer. I lift and do agility work, so I’m working on my speed.  It’s nice, hard work.

Patch: What does soccer mean to you?

Linde: It means everything. I’ve been doing it my whole life, like every single day I’m out there playing with the ball. I play year-round and it just means everything to me.
