Golden Ball Tavern Museum

Step inside history at the Golden Ball Tavern Museum—a remarkable home built in 1768 where the drama of the American Revolution once unfolded. Built by Isaac Jones, a prominent citizen who famously shifted from Loyalist to Patriot, the Tavern became an unlikely hub of intrigue. In 1774 it was the scene of a violent ransacking known as the ‘Weston Tea Party’. During the winter of 1775, it served as a base for British spies, playing a role in the events that led to the march on Lexington and Concord. These walls have witnessed divided loyalties, secret plans, and a nation on the brink of independence. The tavern, found at “the sign of the Golden Ball,” welcomed travelers from 1770 to 1793. For the 200 years, six generations of the Jones family carefully preserved the home and its stories—creating a rare, unbroken link to the past. Today, the Golden Ball Tavern Museum invites visitors to experience early American life up close. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum houses hundreds of original artifacts and offers engaging programs, lectures, and events that bring history vividly to life for all ages. Open year-round from February through December, the museum welcomes visitors every Thursday (10 a.m.–4 p.m.) and on the second Sunday of each month (1–4 p.m.). The museum has a special, week-long holiday event in December which is open to the public each day. Whether you're a history enthusiast or just curious about the past, there’s something here for everyone. Our largest fundraiser of the year - the Golden Ball Tavern Museum's Barn Sale - will celebrate its 59th year on September 26th, 2026. A <a href="http://www.gifford.org/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Gifford School</a> intern has been arrested and charged with leaving a cell phone in a paper bag to reportedly record people in a bathroom. Police arrested Stephano Stravoravdis, 24, of Cambrdige, on Monday and charged him on "secret video, photo or electronic surveillance of partial nudity," according to Weston Police. A school staff member alerted police on Monday that a cell phone was found in a school bathroom. The phone was hidden in a paper bag. Police were able to find that Stravoravdis owned the phone. They spoke to the Cambridge man, who is a college intern working at the school as part of his graduate studies, and arrested him. He was arraigned in Waltham District Court. "At this time, police believe it was an isolated incident and no students were recorded," said Weston Police. Police continue to investigate the incident.
