The Hammond Performing Arts Series Presents the Israeli Stage's Production of "Oh God"

WESTON, Mass. (March 4, 2016) - Saul Cohen, President of Hammond Residential Real Estate in Chestnut Hill, is pleased to announce that the tenth installment of the 2015-2016 Hammond Performing Arts Series season will feature a performance of the Israeli Stage’s production of “Oh God.” This performance, which is sponsored by the Saul B. and Naomi Cohen Foundation and promoted by Hammond Residential Real Estate, will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28 at the Weston Library, which is located at 87 School Street in Weston, Massachusetts. Admission is free.

Written by famed Israeli playwright Anat Gov and directed by Guy Ben-Aharon, this witty, poignant, and touching play focuses on a psychotherapist named Ella, the mother of an autistic child, who gets a visit from a new and desperate patient, God. The production has received rave reviews, with The Washington Post declaring it “entertaining and thought provoking.”

Will Lyman (God) is well-known to Boston audiences for his work with the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, the Huntington Theatre Company, New Rep, the Speakeasy Stage Company, Wheelock Family Theatre, Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, and the Nora Theatre Company. He has narrated with the National Symphony, and acted in conjunction with the Cleveland Symphony and the Handel and Haydn Society. Lyman is a recipient of both the Norton and IRNE Awards. His film credits include: “A Perfect Murder,” “The Siege,” “Welcome to the Dollhouse,” and “Mystic River.” He has also narrated the PBS program “Frontline.” Lyman’s Israeli Stage credits include: “Ulysses on Bottles,” “Dear Sigmund,” and “Carl, Price Tag.”

Maureen Keiller (Ella) has appeared at the Lyric Stage Company of Boston, the SpeakEasy Stage Company, the Central Square Theatre, Boston Theatre Works, New Rep, Lyric West, and Hartford Theatre Works. Keiller is a two-time IRNE Award winner for best supporting actress. Her film credits include: “Fever Pitch,” “We Pedal Uphill,” and “My Best Friend’s Girl.” She has also been viewed on television’s “The Makeover” (Hallmark Hall of Fame), “Brotherhood (Showtime)”, and “We Made America” (WGBH). Keiller has also appeared in the Israeli Stage production of “Sinners.”

Born in Israel, Guy Ben-Aharon is the Founder of Israeli Stage. After the success of Israeli Stage, Guy was asked by the Goethe-Institut Boston to develop German Stage, by swissnex Boston to develop Swiss Stage, and by Austrian Stage for the Austrian Cultural Forum, New York. His dedication to international theatre has resulted in tours throughout the East Coast from Toronto to Atlanta. Ben-Aharon is a proud Emerson College graduate who formed the Israeli Stage in an effort to share the diversity and vitality of Israeli culture by building cultural bridges through theatre and dialogue.

Playwright Anat Gov, who left a lasting legacy and impression throughout the Israeli theatre world, passed away in December, 2012.

The Hammond Performing Arts Series began in Chestnut Hill twenty-two years ago as a means to provide talented musicians with performance opportunities and to enrich the cultural life of the communities that Hammond’s network of offices serve. The series proved so successful in Chestnut Hill that it has been expanded to Boston, Concord, Hingham, Lexington, Sharon, and Weston.
