Heavy Rain, Flooding, Strong Winds Expected to Stretch Into Christmas

The National Weather Service is predicting heavy rain, strong winds and minor coastal flooding on Christmas Eve and continuing into Christmas.

Heavy rain is expected to start on Wednesday afternoon with the heaviest rain coming Wednesday night. The rain may be coupled with isolated thunderstorms.

NWS is predicting 1.5 to 3 inches of rain and said that “significant urban flooding” is possible.

The National Weather Service is predicting strong wind gusts. Wind gusts are expected to increase on Wednesday night and continue during Christmas morning and night. Southeast Massachusetts could see wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph on Wednesday night and then 40 mph on Christmas.
