Mass. Pike Traffic to Be Impacted at Weston Interchange
Blasting will take place at the interchange between Feb. 1 and Feb. 14 during off-peak hours.

WESTON, MA – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced upcoming periodic traffic impacts on the Mass. Pike at Interchange 15 in Weston.
Blasting will begin Wednesday, Feb. 1, and occur once per day on weekdays through Feb. 14. Operations will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to avoid the peak morning and evening travel times.
The blasting is part of the road reconstruction process, following the demolition of toll plazas along the Pike as the state switched to all-electronic tolling. The operation will allow for continued construction of proposed Exit Ramp R at the Weston interchange, which will carry westbound traffic on the Pike onto I-95 north and southbound. Specifically, it will remove rock from the beginning of the proposed ramp, west of the Park Road bridge and about 500 feet of the westbound area.

Blasting will be a safe distance away from travel lanes, according to MassDOT, and will occur when rolling road blocks are in place to slow traffic and keep vehicles a safe distance away from the construction zone.
There will be stoppages at all access points from I-95 to eastbound and westbound on the Pike. When blasting is occurring, Park Road will be shut down south of the Pike at Orchard Street and north at South Avenue.

Those traveling through these active construction zones should expect delays during these times, reduce speeds, and pay attention to their surroundings.
Message boards and proper signage will be activated throughout these operations to notify travelers of the upcoming blast schedule. MassDOT encourages drivers to continue to plan ahead, follow posted speed limits and use tools such as travel apps before leaving home.
