Mass. Pike Traffic Shifts Announced at Weston Interchange

WESTON, MA – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation Thursday announced traffic pattern shifts along the Mass. Pike at the Weston interchange.

The shifts will be maintained until spring 2017 in order to allow for Stage 3 construction operations. According to MassDOT, these shifts were originally slated for next year, but the project is ahead of schedule.

Below is a look at what will change:

Beginning Thursday, Dec. 8

• Crews will begin shifting traffic entering I-90 westbound from I-95 northbound at Interchange 14 into the Stage 3A configuration.
• Crews will make modifications to the traffic markings on the ramp from I-95 southbound to I-90 westbound.
• Crews will finalize this traffic shift by Friday, December 9, at 5:00 a.m.
• During this time, crews will be removing pavement markings and striping new lines.
• The new pattern will move this traffic to the outer limits of the existing toll plaza.
• It will also allow for two lanes of traffic to be carried throughout the entire ramp. (It is currently reduced to one lane at one location.)
• This traffic pattern will be maintained through spring 2017.

Beginning Tuesday, Dec. 13

• Crews will begin shifting traffic entering I-95 from I-90 eastbound at Interchange 14 into the Stage 3A configuration.
• During this time, crews will be removing pavement markings and striping new lines.
• The new pattern will also move this traffic to the outer limits of the existing toll plaza.
• It will also make modifications for a dedicated lane for drivers entering the tandem trailer lot off I-90.
• This traffic pattern will be maintained through spring 2017.

Operations are weather-dependent and subject to change.

Travelers are encouraged to minimize distractions, wear seat belts, plan ahead and devote their full attention to driving through construction zones.
