The Performing Arts Series Presents Recital at Weston Library

The Performing Arts Series is pleased to present cellist Jan Müller-Szeraws and pianist Victor Santiago Asunción in concert on Sunday, April 23 at the Weston Public Library. The performance, which is sponsored by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, will take place at 3 p.m. at the library located at 87 School St. in Weston.

This, the twelfth concert in the 2016-2017 series, features the beautiful sounds of artists Müller-Szeraws and Asunción. Müller-Szeraws’ career has taken him around the world to perform with the renowned Moscow Symphony Orchestra and Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile, as well as New England Philharmonic and Boston Landmarks Orchestra. He is an artist-in-residence at the College of the Holy Cross where he is also the founder and artistic director of the Chamber Music Institute, an intensive summer program for talented high-school and college students. Müller -Szeraws studied at the Musikhochschule Freiburg and holds degrees from Boston University.

Asunción has appeared in major concert halls in Brazil, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Turkey and the Philippines. He has worked with distinguished conductors including Sergio Esmilla, Enrique Batiz, Zev Dorman, Arthur Weisberg, Corrick Brown, David Loebel, Leon Fleisher, Michael Stern and Bobby McFerrin. Asunción received his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in 2007 from the University of Maryland at College Park and is a Steinway artist.

The April 23 program will include performances of “Suite Popular Española” by Manuel de Falla and transcription by Maurice Maréchal, “Sonata for Piano and Violoncello” by Francis Poulenc, “Intermezzo” from “Goyescas” by Enrique Granados and transcription by Gaspar Cassadó and “Sonata in A Major for Violin and Piano (version for Cello)” by César Franck.
