Q and A with Wildcats' Captain Saliah Serrette

Patch talked with Saliah Serrette after the Weston girls' basketball team lost to Acton-Boxborough Tuesday night.

Patch: How’s the season going?

Serrette: The season is going well. Our record isn’t the best, but we’re fighting very hard, putting in a lot of effort, which is always great.

Patch: Personally, how is your season going?

Serrette: Personally, I’m doing very well, actually. I’ve been working a lot on my rebounding. This year I’ve averaged a lot more points than I have in the past. So it’s been pretty well this year.

Patch: What type of work do you put in to gear up for the regular season?

Serrette: I play AAU for the New Hampshire Rivals, which is almost all year except for the school season. And I also do a lot of work by myself. I have a court outside. I do a lot of individual work by myself.

Patch: I know the team is struggling. How hard is it to keep mentally involved?

Serrette: It is always difficult to have that many losses, but I have the motivation, the drive to keep fighting every single game. I always fight to the end.

Patch: I imagine prior to the season you set goals for yourself. Have you achieved any of those yet? What are some of those goals?

Serrette: A general goal I have for myself was to rebound because personally that is what I do well. So far this year, I’ve been rebounding pretty outstanding numbers.

Patch: What does the future look like?

Serrette: I really want to win the Dual County League (Small) championship again. We were back-to-back champions before. I really think we can do it again this year.
