Read To a Dog At Weston Public Library

What better way to get the kids to practice their reading than with a fuzzy friend.

(Town of Weston)

WESTON, MA — Weston library officials are encouraging young readers to practice reading aloud and are getting some help from a furry employee. Maggie, the official library reading buddy, is a happy dog eager to hear stories from young readers.

The library is offering special times on Saturday to schedule a session for kids to read to Maggie. Parents interested can visit or call the Youth Services Desk.

Library officials said kids gain confidence in their reading skills and enjoy the company of Maggie in the Storytelling Room. To encourage confidence in kids reading and establish trust, the library has a policy that while children are in the reading room, only the reader, Maggie and Katie, her trainer, are in the room.
