Regis and Stonehill collaborate to make ABA higher education affordable

Regis College in Weston and Stonehill College in Easton are innovating to make the Master’s degree more affordable to qualified students. The initiative will ultimately help meet the growing demand for professionals who can work with autism and Asperger’s cases.
Beginning in September, three eligible Stonehill undergraduate students can take two Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) graduate courses at Regis for free, a savings of almost $6,000. Also with the agreement, Regis will waive the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) requirement for academically qualified Stonehill students seeking admission in the MS ABA program.
“Applied Behavior Analysis is a growing and necessary field given the increased number of diagnosed autism and Asperger’s cases,” said Lauren Beaulieu, Director of the ABA Program and Assistant Professor of Psychology at Regis. “We absolutely must prepare qualified Behavior Analysts sooner to work in a high-demand field, a field in which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently reported a 30 percent increase in diagnosed cases.”

Regis and Stonehill also partnered in the Fall of 2013 with the Health Administration program where eligible Stonehill undergraduate courses in the Health Administration baccalaureate degree program may be credited towards the Regis Master’s of Health Administration program, saving approximately $8,000.
“It makes sense to continue combining Stonehill’s and Regis’ strengths and resources as Catholic liberal arts institutions to educate strong and capable graduate students,” noted Craig Almeida, Dean of Academic Achievement at Stonehill.

“Our institutions,” Dr. Pouravelis concurred, “have similar missions aware of the need to link learning to professional practice.”
To be eligible, Stonehill students must be psychology majors in their senior year with an overall GPA of 3.3 or higher and a letter of recommendation from a psychology department faculty member.
