Regis welcomes author Chris Bohjalian to new Liberal Arts Lecture Series

Author Chris Bohjalian to speak at Regis on March 11

The School of Liberal Arts, Education and Social Sciences is pleased to announce the Liberal Arts Lecture Series at Regis. The inaugural lecture on March 11 will feature New York Times bestselling author Chris Bohjalian who will discuss “The Writing Life.”

Author of 17 books that have been translated into 30 languages, Bohjalian is the recipient of numerous awards including the ANCA Freedom Award; the ANCA Arts and Letters Award; the Saint Mesrob Mashdots Medal; the New England Society Book Award; the New England Book Award; a Boston Public Library Literary Light; a finalist for the Lambda Literary Award for Trans-Sister Radio; and the Anahid Literary Award. His novel, Midwives, was a number one New York Times bestseller, a selection of Oprah’s Book Club, and a New England Booksellers Association Discovery pick. His latest book is Close your Eyes, Hold Hands.

“With this lecture we will be inaugurating a celebration of the liberal arts at Regis,” said Mary-Anne Vetterling, Spanish Professor and Associate Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, Education, Social Sciences. “We are thrilled to host a top-notch, highly respected and world-class author such as Chris Bohjalian.”

“I’m really looking forward to visiting Regis,” said Bohjalian. “It wasn’t all that long ago that my books sold briskly — but only among people with my last name.”

The lecture will take place at 3:00 p.m. in the Regis Fine Arts Center Atrium, 235 Wellesley Street, Weston. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be followed by a book signing. Books will be available for purchase at the event (cash only). For more details and to register.
