Ring in the Spring with the Spring Concert at Regis in Weston

Regis College's music department is having its spring concert on Saturday, April 8, 2017. All are welcome!

WESTON — The Regis Alumni Chorus cordially invites the public to its annual Spring concert, hosted in the Casey Theatre of the Fine Arts Center of Regis, 235 Wellesley Street, Weston. The performance will take place on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.

This year’s concert centers around “Metamorphosis,” a special collection that spans over a thousand years of mass music and features Gregorian chants, classical composers, and three brand new compositions of the Agnus Dei, as written by directors Doug Anderson, Dr. Heather Josselyn-Cranson, and Elizabeth Smith. The theme mirrors the Regis Humanities Department’s motif for the academic year, an emphasis on change and growth. Also in the set list is pop music, jazz, a cappella, chamber music, and more!

“Christians have been singing the words of the Mass, in Greek, Latin, and English, for hundreds of years. While these words stay the same, the music to which composers set them reflects different times and cultures,” says Dr. Heather Josselyn-Cranson, Sister Margaret William McCarthy Endowed Chair in Music at Regis. “It's humbling to hear and perform centuries worth of sacred music, as we will do at the Spring Concert, and to consider all the people of faith who have come before us.”
