Naked Photos of Weston High Boys Solicited on Snapchat

Students were warned Tuesday of an account targeting sophomore boys.

WESTON, MA – Weston High School students were warned Tuesday of a Snapchat account attempting to solicit sexually explicit photos from sophomore boys.

According to Weston Superintendent Robert Tremblay, on Friday administrators were first made aware of a fake Snapchat account attempting to receive graphic images and immediately brought the issue to the attention of Weston police.

School officials gathered the sophomore class in an assembly Tuesday to inform them of the situation and warn of the dangers of sending and receiving compromising materials online, Tremblay wrote in an email.

An investigation conducted over the weekend indicated that the solicitations were confined to sophomore boys and no girls had been targeted.

However, the identity of the person running the account remains unknown.

"No identifying information about the person making these solicitations, such as age, gender, or location have been determined at this time," Tremblay wrote.

In an email, Tremblay said that he has not seen any explicit images himself, though it has been reported to him that some sophomore boys may have responded to the solicitations with pictures.

In addition to Tuesday's assembly, school officials sent a letter to the Weston High School community, which emphasized the legal ramifications of sending and receiving such images.

"Besides causing embarrassment and emotional distress, sending pictures like this qualifies as dissemination of child pornography, which is a felony," Tremblay wrote in the letter.
