Tax Credits Available for Historic Homes
Presentation will review federal and state tax credits on Monday, Sept. 23.

The Weston Historical Committee will sponsor a presentation on the use of federal and state historic preservation tax credits for rehabbing historic buildings from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23 at the Weston Community Center.
The presentation, which will be led by attorney Dan Kolodner, who is a senior counsel with Klein Hornig, LLP, will explain the tax credits for historic preservation projects and how they can be used to renovate historic buildings, such as the Josiah Smith Tavern and Old Library.
The programs can re-capture 20% of an eligible historic renovation project cost as a tax credit. The federal program has been around since 1976 and meant more than $62 billion in 38,000 historic property renovations. The state program awards up to $50 million in tax credits each year.
