The top four finishers from each divisional meet plus any participant whose performance ranks in the top 15 overall across all divisions will qualify for the All-State Meet, to be held June 4 at Bridgewater State University.

Meanwhile, the recent Notre Dame Last Chance Meet in Hingham didn’t produce any Division 4 qualifiers for Weston but five athletes posted personal best scores or times. They included sophomore Kayla Lawrence (third in long jump, 15-00.00); sophomore Adam Dvorak (mile, 5:04.47);  sophomore Eli Curme (mile, 5:04.47); sophomore Ryan Burrow, (800m, 2:11.79); junior Sundaram Mishra, (400m, 1:03.77) Also faring well in the triple jump were junior Kwaku Adu-Gyamfi (36-01.50); and sophomore Catherine Cebulla (30-07).

To the courts we go, where Weston senior tennis star Will Spector advanced to the boys North Sectional singles final against Lexington freshman standout Ben Tso.

Spector won both of his quarterfinal and semifinal matches, defeating Cameron Trosin of St. John’s Prep, 6-2, 6-1, and Arlington’s Matt Lipinski, 6-3, 6-2.

Weston’s Rutendo Mutengo gave Tso a battle in the quarterfinals, before succumbing, 6-0-, 2-6, 6-4. Tso then defeated Central Catholic’s Tom Alaimo, 6-2, 6-0.

Now to the diamond, where the Weston softball team rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh, but couldn’t catch Concord-Carlisle in an 8-5 loss to the host Patriots in Dual County League Small Division action. The Wildcats fell to 4-12 overall and 2-6 in division play.

“[They] shut us down offensively for the first three innings, but we began to chip away,” Weston head coach Kelly Harrington said. “We are starting to play well together despite having multiple injuries forcing people to play different positions.”

C-C led, 5-0, after two innings, before the Wildcats scored a run in the fourth. But the Patriots extended their lead to 8-1 after five.

Weston cut the deficit to 8-2 in the sixth, before the big rally in the seventh.

Senior leadoff hitter Sarah Ober sparked the comeback with an RBI double and went 2 for 4 overall.

Sophomores Ariana Vasquez and Sarah Goldman each had one hit and two RBIs on the day.

Vasquez pitched the entire game and didn’t walk a batter, while striking out three. She allowed only three earned runs on nine hits.

In the prior game, Weston exploded for nine runs in the first inning en route to a 17-3 victory over archrival host Wayland in the DCL Small.

Every player in the Weston lineup had at least one hit and a run scored.

Goldman led the way, going 4 for 5 with two RBIs.

Ober had two hits in three tries with a walk and four runs scored.

Juniors Sami Gosman, Tanner Skenderian and Kristen Welby, and sophomore Marissa Messina each had two hits, while Vasquez, sophomore Dani Silverstein and freshman Talia Cramer had one hit apiece.

Vasquez was also brilliant in the circle, allowing just one earned run on seven hits, while striking out five and walking one.

Weston has since qualified for the state tournament with a win over Mount St. Joesph Academy on the final day of the regular season. The Wildcats finished 2-2 in division play.

The Weston baseball, boys and girls lacrosse and boys tennis teams have also qualified for the postseason. The girls tennis seedings will also be announced this week.
