! It would have been easy for Wayland/Weston to take their lumps after falling behind 3-0 to Algonquin/Hudson in the first period. Senior captain Patty Atkinson wore the goalie equipment for the first time and the Warcats were short a few players on the bench. Whatever was discussed in the locker room is unknown but the Warcats stormed back with two goals in the second period from Nikki Gerjarusak and a goal off the face off from Gianna Fargnoli to tie the game. Morgan Griffin kept the pressure on A/H with her drives to the net and blue-liners Caroline Goguen, Lucy Harper, Ainsley Gilbard and Lilly Poulin kept A/H in check while Atkinson kept the puck out of the net and gave her team a chance to make a comeback. Declan Nolan, Tuesday Ford, Tamara Lord and Adalia Babcock played a very strong game harassing A/H and preventing them from starting plays. Coaches Cleary and MacDonald were truly impressed with the spirit and grit of their team.
