Weston 7th Safest City in the Commonwealth

Weston has moved up on the list since last year's rankings.

WESTON, MA - Good old Weston was named the seventh safest city in Massachusetts.

SafeWise, a community-focused security organization, reviewed the most recent FBI crime report statistics from 2014 to crown the 20 safest cities in the commonwealth.

Cities with fewer than 8,000 residents were eliminated as well as those that failed to file an FBI report.

The remaining cities were evaluated based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft). SafeWise also calculated the likelihood of these crimes occurring out of 1,000 people in each city.

Weston came in number seven on the list with 0.25 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 3.50 property crimes per 1,000 people. Last year Weston was ranked number 11 on the list.
