The baseball team made Tuesday afternoon's game against Boston Latin School an interesting one, notching the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The win propels a young Weston squad, which graduated 11 seniors last year, ahead with a 5-0 record.
"They played with focus and intensity all throughout the game," said Coach Jon Beverly. "I'm really excited about how they competed in all innings."

The game remained scoreless until the third inning when Colton Whorf led off with a double, and Jack Dennehy notched a singe. James Goulart batted a run in with a sacrifice fly, before Weston took a 2-0 lead with an RBI double by Noah Tocci.
Boston Latin tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning though, with runs by Malcolm Nachmanoff and Tyler Hallinan. Boston Latin got two runners on base in the top of the seventh, but a pop fly after two outs ended the at-bat.

Weston pitcher Brooks Parker, a sophomore, stayed in the game until midway through the seventh inning, when senior Gage Hartman came into the game for the final pitches and the eventual win.
"Brooks threw extremely well against a good hitting team," said Beverly.
Alex Kane led off the bottom of the seventh for Weston, and was hit with a pitch to get on base. Kane then advanced to second on a Max Grundy sacrifice bunt, before Whorf took a pitch on the arm to get on base. Dennehy struck out for the second out.
Up next, Hartman launched a hard grounder toward third base, and reached first on a throwing error, allowing Kane's pinch runner to score the game-winner from third base.
Beverly said he is proud how the players have done, on Tuesday and on the season as a whole.
"Their attitude has been great," he said. "They kept a focus and intensity all throughout the game."
Next up, Weston travels to Newton South High School on Tuesday, April 17, for a 10 a.m. game.
