Weston Firefighters Salute Fallen State Trooper Thomas Clardy
The department gathered at an overpass as the trooper's escort passed underneath.
WESTON, MA - Weston firefighters joined law enforcement and rescue agencies across the state Thursday in paying tribute to State Trooper Thomas Clardy.
Clardy was killed Wednesday after a speeding car crashed into his cruiser during a routine traffic stop on the Mass. Pike. David Njuguna, the driver of the car that hit him, has been charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stay within marked lanes.
Police are also requesting Njuguna's license be immediately suspended.
Clardy left behind a wife and six children.
Today, first responders from several police and fire departments turned out to honor the fallen trooper as his body was escorted back to his hometown of Hudson.
As the escort passed underneath an overpass, Weston firefighters turned on their lights, removed their helmets and saluted in a gesture of solidarity.
