Weston Native to Star in The Great Gatsby

MOONSTRUCK THEATER COMPANY, in association with Amazing Things Art Center of Framingham, is pleased to present the regional premiere of the American classic THE GREAT GATSBY, opening Friday, October 24, and running for seven performances through Sunday, November 2.

THE GREAT GATSBY, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Jazz Age fable of doomed love and careless wealth, will be presented live on stage as you have never seen it before. This exciting new version, reinterpreted for the stage by Simon Levy, brings the American classic to life through the music of the era. Song and dance from the 1920s will accompany Levy’s exhilarating script to create an immersive theatrical experience.

THE GREAT GATSBY features 15 performers from the Boston and Metro West regions, including Weston native, Cara Guappone, who brings the iconic Daisy Buchanan to life in the regional premiere.

Guappone has been dancing since she could walk and acting for the past twelve years. Her favorite part about the show? “It’s a SURPRISICAL!” Guappone exclaims, “It’s a play that, SURPRISE, has musical numbers! The music and dance help bring to live the roaring twenties, the glitter and illusion that encompass the characters, it’s really an exciting addition to the original script.”

Guappone seems to have a penchant for challenging roles, “I recently wrapped up a production of Romeo Juliet in which I was entrusted the role of Juliet. The show was a passion project for myself and a couple of friends, so not only did we have the chance to act in the show, but we shaped its entire vision,” Guappone says, “ There were plenty of bumps along the way, well more like camel sized humps along the way, but it is one of my greatest theatrical accomplishments to date. Huzzah!”

Guappone works at a design studio in Cambridge and runs a new theater company, The Opposite of People.

The show is directed by Matthew Sherman, music directed by Samantha Prindiville, and choreographed by Caroline Fonseca. The production will be presented at Amazing Things Art Center, 160 Hollis St, Framingham, MA.
