Dr. Rankin, who specializes in reproductive medicine, served as chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at MetroWest Medical Center from 1975 to 1996. Since 1996, he has been Supervisor of Educational Programs for the department, overseeing the continuing medical education programs for physicians.

In nominating him for the award, his colleagues remarked that Dr. Rankin “has always balanced the interests of patients, department members, and the institution as chair of the department. He also has been and continues to be an excellent mentor. His work on the continuing medical education programs has been outstanding and is often attended by doctors from other departments.
