Weston teens rock out for a cause

NEEDHAM [July 9, 2013] - Evan and Lucy Rubin of Weston were among 120 students from the Greater Boston and Metrowest area who performed at "Amped for Camp," a 3-night benefit concert for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp on June 14, 15, and 16. The event was presented by Plugged In, a non-profit rock band program in Needham whose mission is to empower youth ages 8-18 to create positive change in the world through music.

Additionally, Plugged In students will be performing at the upcoming Plugged In summer session concert on Friday, August 2 to benefit To Write Love on Her Arms, a non-profit organization dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.

MORE INFORMATION:

In addition to weekly ensemble band classes, private music lessons, songwriting workshops, and community performances, Plugged In students perform in benefit concerts three times a year to raise money for causes and organizations chosen by the students themselves. Plugged In provides a nurturing and supportive community to which young musicians feel a sense of belonging, an opportunity to express and be acknowledged for their musical interests and a chance to use their music to help others around the world.
