Weston Woman Named CFO Of Greater Boston Food Bank

WESTON, MA — A Weston woman will take over as the Chief Financial Officer of the Greater Boston Food Bank. Pranita Amarashinghe will oversee all GBFB’s Finance, Accounting and Information Technology functions.

Amarashinghe is replacing David Noymer, who retired at the end of January after over 10 years of service as GBFB’s CFO.

A mission-driven executive with more than 20 years of experience in the human services industry in Massachusetts, Amarashinghe was Chief Operating Officer at Charles River Center in Needham prior to joining GBFB. She has also held senior leadership positions at Boston Senior Home Care, Central Boston Elder Services and Cambridge Housing Authority.

She began her career at Ernst & Young in Sri Lanka before coming to the U.S. to attend Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration/Accounting and an MBA. Amarashinghe’s for-profit experience includes working at the multi-national retailer Gap where she was responsible for a $2 billion fixed asset portfolio.

“Growing up on the island nation of Sri Lanka, I saw how people struggle for survival,” said Amarasinghe. “My family always helped people in whatever way they could. To this day, those values are instilled in me and will be the hallmark for my work at The Greater Boston Food Bank.”
