Wildcats Advance to Division 3 North Semis
Girls Soccer blanks Winthrop, 4-0, in quarterfinals.

All is well for head coach James Blackwell and the Weston girls soccer team, after yesterday's 4-0 win over visiting Winthrop in the Division 3 North quarterfinals at Regis College.
The No. 5 Wildcats (13-5-2) advanced to the semifinals against No. 2 Georgetown (13-2-2). That game is scheduled to be played tomorrow in Lynn.
"Straight after halftime, we came out strongly," Blackwell said of yesterday's tilt. Even by then, the Wildcats had a 2-0 lead on first half strikes by Madeline Linde and Emma Dagres, though Blackwell noted "it was fairly even over the first 15 minutes."

Linde finally scored with a strong low drive to the middle of the goal. Dagres then made a solid run down the left side, evaded the keeper, and calmly finished to make it 2-0.
The Wildcats continued to pour it on in the second stanza.

"We came out strongly with Maddie a huge threat down the right hand side," Blackwell said.
The Wildcats tallied again, when Linde eluded the left defender, squared the ball to Lindsey McCabe, and McCabe launched it into the top right corner.
"She finished very well," Blackwell said of McCabe's effort. Linde made a similar rush to set up Dagres in the box for the capper.
Blackwell said freshman Jackie Dowling, who was brought up from junior varsity for the tournament, "had another outstanding game."
He also noted fellow freshman Laura Greenberg played well, despite having a goal waved off. Weston was called for offsides on the play.
