“Massage is good for the mind and body, providing an essential hour to regroup,” Corkery said.
“Everybody should try massage,” Corkery said. “It is great for overall health. Massage helps stimulate the lymphatic system and increase circulation, both of which are key to the immune system. It can also help with chronic pain, arthritis, migraine and low back pain.”
Wayne Swartz feels the benefit. He comes to FeitheOg weekly from Needham for deep tissue massage with massage therapist Fiamma Bastian-Torres.
“We have clients who come from Brookline. Waltham, the Cape, Medford. Now that the shop is at street level, we’re getting a lot from West Roxbury and Roslindale as well,” Corkery said. “Up until now, though, it’s been mainly word of mouth and referrals. We don’t really do any sort of marketing.”

“Everyone is surprised to learn I’ve been in the area for twelve years,” Corkery said. It’s like I’m a well kept secret.” Indeed, it is.
Corkery started as a massage therapist at . She later moved to , a second floor space across from .
When two of the five Gentle Spirit therapists left for a Jamaica Plain practice, Corkery decided not to leave West Roxbury and opened FeitheOg Message Therapy. She has several experienced therapists working with her, including Bastian-Torres.
Corkery picked her current street-level location to make it easier on her clients who have trouble with stairs and because she wanted street visibility. It is a move that seems to be working well.
Eddie Hastings, a West Roxbury resident, has become a regular. A serious runner, Hastings was suffering from back pain and didn’t know where to go.
“One day, I noticed this place popped up right next to my barber shop,” Hasting said. “Catherine really helps with the pain. Her sports massage is great.”
“I love West Roxbury,” Corkery said. “I do all my shopping here. Everything is here. I'm delighted to have my business here."
FeitheOg Massage Therapy is located at 1764A Centre St., West Roxbury.
