BCYF SENIOR PROGRAMMING at the Ohrenberger Community Center

SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES

The BCYF Ohrenberger Senior Program will return on Monday, October 1st, 2018 along with

Senior Coordinator, Lorna Bognanno. The senior center will be open every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. There are many activities planned for the center:

Coffee Hour each day at 9:00 am

Senior Exercise/Wellness class Monday’s 11:30 am – 12:30 pm

LUNCH program 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm every Monday and Tuesday

Computer Lab open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm and Thursday’s 10:00 am – 12:00 noon

FLU SHOTS – Monday, October 15th 11:00 am

Art & Crafts – Tuesday, October 30th 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

Chair Yoga – start date is Tuesday, October 23rd from 10:00 am – 11:00 am

ETHOS workshops (Tai Chi, A Matter of Balance, My Life My Health, Chronic Pain Self-Management (dates of workshops will be scheduled throughout the year)

Tuesday, October 9th the SHINE program at ETHOS, (Serving Health Insurance Needs of

Everyone) on Medicare is a state health insurance assistance program that provides unbiased, educational information that will help you navigate through Medicare or Mass Health only if it relates to Medicare. This is a presentation on how SHINE may assist you.

New Workshops:

Healthy Living Workshop provided by ETHOS

My Life, My Health: Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) is an informative, interactive workshop, designed for adults who live with the daily challenges of one or more ongoing health conditions. It will give people with chronic conditions (such as high blood pressure, arthritis, heart disease, cancer, asthma,etc.) and/or to their caregivers the knowledge and skills needed to take a more active role in their health care. A book, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Disease is provided. Class dates: November 7th through December 12th from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm and will meet one day per week for 6 weeks.

MCPHS Pharmacy Outreach Program and SHINE at ETHOS will hold informational sessions on Wednesday, November 14th. Medicare Part D Plans change every year. The cost and the coverage on your current plan will be changing too. Will you still have the best coverage? MCPH University is partnering with SHINE at ETHOS to help you understand your Part D coverage for next year. Join us on November 14th from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm at BCYF Ohrenberger, 175 West Boundary Road, West Roxbury to discuss your options. Please call ahead to the BCYF Ohrenberger Community Center at 617-635-5183 to reserve your spot. (Please bring a print out of your current medication list).
