West Roxbury Teen Found Guilty of Negligent Operation

The accident which drew the charges left two paralyzed.

WEST ROXBURY, MA—A negligent vehicle operation case stemming from a 2013 accident which left two paralyzed has finally closed.

West Roxbury Teen and Boston Latin graduate Nikolas Papadopoulos was found guilty of negligent operation of a vehicle on Tuesday, according to WBZ’s Liam Martin. The criminal charges stem from a 2013 Arborway crash that left two victims critically injured, one of which was forced into a medically-induced coma.

The Boston Globe reported in Nov. 2014 that Papadopoulos was originally scheduled to accept a plea agreement, but suddenly withdrew the plea after Judge Mary Ann Driscoll announced she planned to sentence Papadopoulos to two years in prison.

Prosecutors said that Papadopoulos was traveling well over the speed limit on the Arborway when his vehicle crossed over the center line and crashed into a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The accident closed the Arborway for the remainder of the afternoon commute.

The accident left 16-year-old Mark Delamere and 34-year-old Kevin Cellucci unable to walk.
