Owner Katerina Iliades, whose family has served the Boston Greek community for decades, says many of the foods enjoyed during Lent reflect long-standing Greek culinary traditions. “Lent is a forty-day season leading up to Easter when many families embrace traditional fasting foods rooted in the Mediterranean diet,” says Iliades. “The dishes enjoyed during this time — from beans and vegetables to seafood and olive oil — have been part of Greek culinary traditions for centuries.” During the Lenten season, many Christians avoid meat and dairy, turning instead to a vibrant variety of Mediterranean dishes that are naturally plant-based and deeply rooted in Greek culinary tradition. At Greek International Food Market, customers can enjoy a wide selection of traditional homemade Lenten meals including: Okra in tomato sauce Greek string beans (fasolakia) Stuffed grape leaves (dolmades) Giant beans baked in tomato sauce (gigantes) Bean salads and Mediterranean vegetable dishes The market also carries a large variety of Lenten pantry staples and imported Greek products, including vegan Greek pies, Mediterranean vegetables, canned and dried beans, and an extensive olive bar featuring a wide selection of Greek olives. The win came in bottom of eighth inning by a throwing error by Lowell. Their next win was on Tuesday at home against the Boston Latin Academy. Berardi threw a two-hit shutout to win 12-0. Everyone in the BLS lineup had a hit.  The Wolfpack went 18-4 -- including a 13-3 record in the Dual County League -- last year, before falling to Lexington in the second round of the MIAA State Tournament.

Our Walk for Hunger starts at 11AM and is approx 2 miles.
Maps will be provided for the stops along the way.
There will be a cookout and a celebration after.
A drawing of the participants' maps for prizes at 12:30pm.
We have Commonwealth Team Status which means Rose's Bounty receives 60% of what we raise to use in the parkway area and 40% goes to other hunger initiatives around the Commonwealth.
