Live Music, Tastings & Sales Light Up Thursday Nights During Roslindale Summer Stroll

Enjoy a free, outdoor concert series starting at 6 p.m., plus samplings and sales, Thursday nights this summer at participating independent shops, salons and restaurants during the Roslindale Village Summer Stroll.

This second annual event happens Thursdays July 12, 19, 26 and August 2. The lineup changes weekly, so check out the Roslindale Village Main Streets website for weekly schedule of events and concert series lineup. 

The concert series kicks off Thursday, July 12, around 6 p.m. in Adams Park with The Marshalls. Bring a picnic and a blanket or chairs to enjoy this free, open-air concert under the trees of Adams Park. Local eateries like Blue Star Restaurant and Wapo Taco are offering dining specials on perfect picnic offerings. Jimmie’s Café is creating picnic-perfect hot dog and lobster roll boxed meals along with ice cream specials, while Vouros Pastry Shop’s has a ‘buy two cookies, get two cookies free’ deal.

Prior to the concert at 5:45 p.m., ReadBoston's Storymobile Program presents storyteller Anna Adler, who has told stories to young audiences for over 5 years. Adler incorporates songs, movement and humor to delight, entertain and engage children. The Friends of Roslindale Library will sponsor a free book give-away to accompany the storyteller.

This year’s Roslindale Summer Stroll kicks off with a ‘Girls Night Out‘ theme for this Thursday, July 12, 6-8 p.m. Girlfriends can check out a trunk show, tastings and expert advice while the guys can enjoy a drink at a local restaurant or settle in for the concert. 

Indulgences for beauty lovers include Montana Emu Ranch skin care demos and a Vintage Fuss trunk show at Birch Street House & Garden and make overs by a Team Agency cosmetic stylist at Joanne Rossman, a past Boston Magazine ‘Best Neighborhood Shop‘ winner. Plus get special discounts/offers at spa services and fashions from Centre Cuts Salon & Spa, Sebastian's Barber Shop, Marla's Obsession, Colorwheel Collection, and The Thrift Shop.

Sarida offers in-store artists Pam Newman (aka "The Bead Lady") & Lisa Perry plus champagne & chocolates, while El Chavo Mexican Products offers a Mexican Salad tutorial using unique ingredients like Nopales (Cactus) and Jicama perfect for summer picnics. Clothing and gift boutique Minerva’s Owl will feature DJ Christyle & portrait sitting with local photographer Renee DeKona.

Plus, nibble as you shop with a bubby and cheese tasting at Boston Cheese Cellar & Solera, ‘French Night’ with bubbly drinks and French sweets at the Colorwheel Collection, and a sweets tasting at Tony's Market.

To keep the night going strong, restaurateurs Sophia's Grotto and Redd's In Rozzie are mixing up and adding special summer cocktails to their menus and Birch Street Bistro will have live music starting at 8:30 p.m. 

Free parking in the Taft Hill Lot and on street. Adams Park is located Roslindale’s shopping district and easily accessed by public transportation, bicycle, walking, or car.
