Massport Honors West Roxbury Resident For Outstanding Achievement

Massport Honors West Roxbury Resident For Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes employees for superior achievements

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) today awarded West Roxbury resident Matthew Roberts with the Authority’s “Outstanding Achievement” award. The award honors employees who have made a noteworthy contribution to the operation of the Authority. Massport began the recognition program in 2007 to give employees an opportunity to honor their peers for superior individual achievement.

Roberts is an Airport Noise Abatement Coordinator for Massport at L.G. Hanscom Field and was recognized for his role maintaining the airport in a safe and operational status during the winterseason.  Hanscom Field recorded more than 69 inches of snow during the 2012-2013 winter season, which is significantly more than Hanscom’s average of 47 inches.

The Northeast Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives (NE/AAAE) last month awarded Hanscom Field the Balchen/Post Award for Outstanding Achievement in Airport Snow and Ice Control. This award recognizes the dedicated efforts of “snow crews” in maintaining their airports in safe and
operational status during the winter season. The Balchen/Post Award, named for
pioneering aviators Wiley Post and Bernt Balchen, was presented at the NE/AAAE
47th annual International Aviation Snow Symposium in Buffalo, New York.

“Massport’s Outstanding Achievement award recognizes instances of superior individual and team achievements and is an opportunity to recognize employees and thank them for their exemplary efforts and enthusiasm,” said Massport CEO and Executive Director Thomas P. Glynn. “Through their efforts we are helping our economy grow, meeting the needs of the traveling public and establishing Massport as a nationally-recognized leader in transportation.”
