The Knights and Ladies of St. Finbarr-Cork Club Celebrate 108th Anniversary

The Knights and Ladies of St. Finbarr-Cork Club elebrated their 108th anniversary with a banquet and dancing to the music of Erin's Melody.

 

A fantastic evening was had by all members, friends, invited guests and many of the other wonderful Irish clubs on Saturday, April 14 at the Malden Irish American Club as the Knights and Ladies of St. Finbarr-Cork Club celebrated their 108th anniversary with a banquet and dancing to the music of Erin's Melody. The meal was catered by Henry's Catering service of Malden.

The evening started with a parade of the officers to the Marching music of a Cork song. After the invocation by chaplin, Fr. Dan Finn a delicious meal was served. The gave a very enjoyable demonstration of Irish Dancing. Stephen A. Tolman, president of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO was the guest speaker.

After hearing from Tolman the annual presentations was made by president Richard Archer. This year's 'woman of the year' was presented to Kathleen Cooney for her dedication and years of service at the various functions during the year.  Mr. Robert Walsh was selected as 'man of the year.'  Bob has spent many years leading the Cork Club and was thanked for his work and dedication. Russ Meyers received a Life Membership.

The guest list included Connell Gallagher, editor of the Irish Emigrant and Carole Simmons and Seamus Mulligan from radio station WROL.

A fantastic evening was enjoyed by more than 200 guests. The Knights & Ladies next function will be held on May 12 at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 15 Winslow St., Arlington. Dancing to the music of David Healy's band. Please come and enjoy another great evening of dancing and fun.
